《動(dòng)物特工》由好萊塢金牌制作人杰瑞·布魯克海默(Jerry Bruckheimer)擔(dān)當(dāng)制片人，講的是一群智能動(dòng)物為政府機(jī)構(gòu)工作，組成“G特工組”以阻止邪惡的億萬富翁(比爾·奈伊/Bill Nighy飾演)掌管世界。“達(dá)爾文”是這群動(dòng)物特工的頭兒，“華雷斯”則是一個(gè)性感的武術(shù)高手，此外G特工組成員還有出色的武器專家 Blaster(《30 Rock》主演特雷西·摩根配音)、飛檐走壁的偵察員Mooch以及精通電腦和信息技術(shù)的鼴鼠Speckles(尼古拉斯·凱奇配音)等。

以豚鼠為主角的點(diǎn)子來自于本片導(dǎo)演霍伊特·耶特曼(Hoyt Yeatman)的兒子，在現(xiàn)實(shí)中軍方曾訓(xùn)練過狗、海豚、豬來執(zhí)行任務(wù)，而豚鼠特工說不定真的會在未來出現(xiàn)。
