First of all , let's have a review. 在第八課的第一講中，我們說道了與“covering one's whole body”同義的一個口語短語：from head to toe, from head to feet 從頭到腳，渾身上下，遍布全身。并且知道了由其而引申出來一個意思與“very much , completely , thoroughly” 同義：徹底徹尾地，完全所有地，極度地，非常地。

【課堂講述】

今天我要教給您另一個口語短語同樣有以上2個意思，與“from head to toe (or feet )”完全等同。What's it? We might as well listen to the following sentence: We were covered in mud from top to toe. 我們渾身是泥。Obviously, it is "from top to toe". 在今天的這個句子中用了一個含有top, t-o-p 頂部和toe，t-o-e腳趾間這2個單詞的一個短語來表述“渾身上下”和“徹底徹尾”的意思。

Let's look at two more sentences including it that expresses "covering one's whole body". 1 Sweat suddenly drenched him from top to toe. 他渾身上下淌著汗。2 Don't come to bed, covered up from top to toe. 上床睡覺，千萬不要從頭到腳唔得嚴(yán)嚴(yán)實實的。(備注：cover up這個短語有2個用法：第一個是cover up或者是cover oneself up . It means"put on more clothes". 加多，穿多衣服，穿暖和點。For example: It gets cold , you'd better cover yourself up. 天變冷，你最好多穿些衣服。第二個用法是：cover something up. It means "to cover something completely so that it cannot be seen" 意思是：(完全)遮住，蓋住。For example: He covered up the body with a sheet. 他用一張床單把尸體蓋住了。)(And now ,let's look at two more sentences including it that expresses "very much , completely , thoroughly". 1 I'm confused from top to toe. 我完全給弄糊涂了。2 He took me in from top to toe with his honeyed words. 我完全被他的甜言蜜語給騙了。(備注："Take somebody in" means"make somebody believe something that is not true". 欺騙，蒙騙。You are a cheat! You cheated me! I will get you someday!你是一個騙子!你欺騙了我!總有一天我會報復(fù)你的!I dare you to cheat me.諒你也不敢欺騙我。)【課堂總結(jié)】
