First of all , let's have a review. 在第七課中我們學(xué)了與“be scared to death”的地道美語說法，大家還記得嗎?它們是：make one's hair stand on, 嚇得某人的毛發(fā)豎起來;make one's blood run cold 嚇得某人渾身冰涼;scare the shit out of somebody (scare somebody shitless)嚇得某人屁滾尿流。與之同義的中文四字短語有：嚇得(毛骨悚然，不寒而栗，膽戰(zhàn)心驚，魂飛魂散，攝人心寒等等)。
【本課主題】
現(xiàn)在我們開始第8課的學(xué)習(xí)。Lesson eight How to say “渾身下上”in real American English? 第八課：渾身上下，美語怎么說?Let's listen to the following sentence: Louise is the one in red over there from head to toe. Louise就是在那兒的那位穿一身紅衣服的人。Louise /is the one/ in red/ over there /from head to toe. 聽眾朋友，在這個(gè)句子中哪里表示出“渾身上下”的意思?
【主題詳說】
它是一個(gè)介詞短語，含有我們身體的部位，一個(gè)是head, h-e-a-d , 腦袋，一個(gè)是toe, t-o-e, 腳趾間，這個(gè)介詞短語是：from head to toe，從頭到腳，渾身上下。In English it means" covering one's whole body".
Let's look at two more sentences. 1 They looked me over from head to toe. 他們從頭到腳打量了我一番。(備注："Look over" means "examine"，查看，檢查。Can you look over my composition for me?你能幫我檢查一下我的作文嗎?The bell rang before I could look over my answers.我還沒來得及看一下答案鈴就響了。None of us will ever have to look over our shoulders again.我們都不必再戰(zhàn)戰(zhàn)兢兢地過日子了。)2 She was mildly bloated from head to toe. 她渾身上下輕微浮腫。
