Audio Reading by Rev. Bill McGinnis
I know what the caged bird feels, 1)alas!
When the sun is bright on the 2)upland slopes;
When the wind 3)stirs soft through the springing grass,
And the river flows like a stream of glass;
When the first bird sings and the first bud 4)opes,
And the faint perfume from its 5)chalice 6)steals——
I know what the caged bird feels!
當(dāng)太陽照在山坡上;
而河流如一彎玻璃漿液流淌;
I know why the caged bird beats his wing
Till its blood is red on the cruel bars;
For he must fly back to his perch and cling
When he 7)fain would be on the 8)bough 9)a-swing;
And a pain still 10)throbs in the old, old scars
And they pulse again with a 11)keener sting——
I know why he beats his wing!
直到血染紅那殘酷的籠桿;
那時(shí),它會在枝上欣然躍動;
I know why the caged bird sings, ah me,
When his wing is bruised and his bosom sore, ——
When he beats his bars and he would be free;
It is not a carol of joy or glee,
But a prayer that he sends from his heart’s deep core,
But a plea, that upward to Heaven he 12)flings——
I know why the caged bird sings!
當(dāng)它拍打籠桿,渴望獲得自由;
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings(《我知道籠中鳥為何歌唱》)。
