"Good morning," said Stuart in a friendly voice.

“早上好，”斯圖亞特友好的說(shuō)。

The repairman raised one hand to his head in a salute.

修理工把一只手舉到頭上向他致意。

Stuart sat down in the ditch beside him and breathed deeply of the fresh, sweet air.

斯圖亞特和他一起坐到小坡上，深深呼吸著甜美的新鮮空氣。

"It's going to be a fine day," he observed.

“今天會(huì)是個(gè)好天，”他觀察著說(shuō)。

"Yes," agreed the repairman, "a fine day."

“是的，”修理工表示同意，“一個(gè)很好的天。

I am looking forward to climbing my poles.

我要爬到我的電線(xiàn)桿上去工作了。

"I wish you fair skies and a tight grip," said Stuart.

“我希望你能抓緊些，別滑下來(lái)摔著，”斯圖亞特說(shuō)。

By the way, do you ever see any birds at the tops of your poles?

順便問(wèn)一句，你曾經(jīng)在你的電線(xiàn)桿頂上見(jiàn)過(guò)鳥(niǎo)兒?jiǎn)?

"Yes, I see birds in great numbers," replied the repairman.

“是的，我曾見(jiàn)過(guò)很多的鳥(niǎo)兒，”修理工回答。

"Well, if you ever run across a bird named Margalo," said Stuart, "I'd appreciate it if you would drop me a line. Here's my card."

“哦，如果你遇到一只叫瑪戈的小鳥(niǎo)，”斯圖亞特說(shuō)，“麻煩你寫(xiě)信給我。這是我的名片。”

"Describe the bird," said the repairman, taking out pad and pencil.

“形容一下那只鳥(niǎo)，”修理工說(shuō)著，拿出拍紙簿和鉛筆。

"Brown," said Stuart. "Brown, with a streak of yellow on her bosom."

“棕色，”斯圖亞特說(shuō)。“棕色，她的胸部還有黃色的條紋。”

"Know where she comes from?" asked the man.

“知道她是從哪里飛來(lái)的嗎?”那個(gè)男人問(wèn)。

She comes from fields once tall with wheat, from pastures deep in fern and thistle;

她來(lái)自從長(zhǎng)著高高的麥子的田野，來(lái)自長(zhǎng)滿(mǎn)大薊和羊齒植物的草場(chǎng);

she comes from vales of meadowsweet, and she loves to whistle.

她來(lái)自長(zhǎng)滿(mǎn)繡線(xiàn)菊的山谷，而且她還喜歡吹口哨。
