“她沒(méi)有丈夫!”斯圖亞特痛苦地小聲哭著。
That's just a lot of nonsense.
你在胡說(shuō)。
"How do you know?" asked George.
“你怎么知道的?”喬治問(wèn)。
"Because I asked her one time," cried Stuart.
“因?yàn)槲覇?wèn)過(guò)她一次，”斯圖亞特哭著說(shuō)。
She told me she was a single bird
她告訴我她是一只獨(dú)身的鳥(niǎo)兒。
Everybody questioned Snowbell closely, but the cat insisted he knew nothing about Margalo'sdisappearance.
每個(gè)人都在追問(wèn)雪球，可是他卻堅(jiān)持說(shuō)對(duì)瑪戈的失蹤一無(wú)所知。
I don't see why you have to make a pariah out of me just because that disagreeable little chippy flew the coop," said Snowbell, irritably.
“明明是那個(gè)討厭的浪蕩女人自己從籠子里飛走的嘛，你們干嗎拼命地拷問(wèn)我?我真搞不懂。”雪球生氣地說(shuō)。
Stuart was heartbroken.
斯圖亞特心碎了。
He had no appetite, refused food, and lost weight.
他沒(méi)有了胃口，拒絕吃任何食物，體重開(kāi)始下降。
Finally he decided that he would run away from home without telling anybody, and go out into the world and look for Margalo.
最后他決定悄悄地離開(kāi)家，到外面去尋找瑪戈。
"While I am about it, I might as well seek my fortune, too," he thought.
“我這么做，也是想找找我的運(yùn)氣。”他想。
Before daybreak next morning he got out his biggest handkerchief and in it he placed his toothbrush, his money, his soap, his comb and brush, a clean suit of underwear, and his pocket compass.
第二天破曉前，他攤開(kāi)他最大的一條手絹，將他的牙刷，錢(qián)，肥皂，梳子，鋼筆，一套干凈的內(nèi)衣，還有袖珍指南針都放在上面。
"I ought to take along something to remember my mother by," he thought.
“我該帶上一些能想念起我媽媽的東西，”他想。
