pass the buck 這則俚語(yǔ)的起源和紙牌游戲有關(guān)，據(jù)說(shuō)在19世紀(jì)的紙牌游戲中，buck是指“獵獸用的大型鉛彈”或者“帶鹿角手柄的刀”。當(dāng)輪到某人發(fā)牌時(shí)，這個(gè)東西就會(huì)轉(zhuǎn)交給他。在1865年，這個(gè)短語(yǔ)成為紙牌術(shù)語(yǔ)，意思是：“將發(fā)牌權(quán)轉(zhuǎn)交給某人”。后來(lái)，逐漸演變成：“把責(zé)任推給另一個(gè)人”。因此，當(dāng)美國(guó)人說(shuō)"Don't pass the buck."時(shí)，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"Don't shirk your responsibility."、"Don't shift the blame to others."。
