可憐的管子工
A lady was expecting the plumber; he was supposed to come at ten o'clock.
一位女士在等著管子工來(lái)，他本該10點(diǎn)來(lái)的。
Ten o'clock came and went; no plumber; eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock, one o'clock; no plumber.
10點(diǎn)了，沒(méi)來(lái);11點(diǎn)了，沒(méi)來(lái);12點(diǎn)了，沒(méi)來(lái);1點(diǎn)了，還是沒(méi)來(lái)。
She concluded he wasn't coming, and went out to do some shopping. While she was out, theplumber arrived.
她認(rèn)為他不會(huì)來(lái)了，就出去買東西了。她走了以后，管子工來(lái)了。
He knocked on the door; the lady's parrot said, "Who is it?" He replied, "It's the plumber."
他敲了敲門，那位女士的鸚鵡說(shuō)：“誰(shuí)呀?”他答道：“我是管子工。”
He thought it was the lady who'd said, "Who is it?" and waited for her to come and let him in.
他認(rèn)為是那位女士在問(wèn)：“誰(shuí)呀?”，于是就等著她來(lái)開(kāi)門。
When this didn't happen he knocked again, and again the parrot said, "Who is it?" He said, "It'sthe plumber!"
沒(méi)有人來(lái)開(kāi)門，他又敲了敲門。鸚鵡問(wèn)道：“誰(shuí)呀?”他答道：“我是管子工!!!”
He waited, and again the lady didn't come to let him in. He knocked again, and again the parrotsaid, "Who is it?" He said, "IT'S THE PLUMBER!!!!!!!!"
他等著，還是沒(méi)有人來(lái)開(kāi)門。他又敲門，鸚鵡問(wèn)道：“誰(shuí)呀?”他答道：“我是管子工!!!”
Again he waited; again she didn't come; again he knocked; again the parrot said, "Who is it?"
他又等著，還是沒(méi)有人來(lái)開(kāi)門。他再敲門，鸚鵡問(wèn)道：“誰(shuí)呀?”
"Aarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!" he said, flying into a rage; he pushed the door in and ripped itoff its hinges. He suffered a heart attack and he fell dead in the doorway.
“啊——”他怒火中燒，撞進(jìn)門去，把門上的合葉都撞掉了。他的心臟病發(fā)作，倒在門口，死了。
The lady came home, only to see the door ripped off its hinges and a corpse lying in thedoorway, "A dead body!" She exclaimed, "WHO IS IT?!"
那位女士回到家，卻發(fā)現(xiàn)門掉下來(lái)了，門口還有一具死尸。她驚叫道：“一具尸體!他是誰(shuí)?!”
The parrot said, "It's the plumber."
鸚鵡答道：“是管子工。”
