[00:07.93]很久很久以前，希臘有個(gè)國(guó)王，名叫邁達(dá)斯。 [00:11.36]He was a greedy man and loved gold better than anything else in the world. [00:14.80]他是個(gè)貪婪的人，喜歡金子勝過(guò)世界上任何東西。 [00:18.23]One day he asked the gods to give him still more gold. [00:20.58]一天，他要求眾神給他更多的金子。 [00:22.94]The gods decided to punish him and said:"Very well;in the morning everything that you touch will become gold." [00:26.81]眾神決定懲罰他，就說(shuō)，“好的，明天一早，你摸到的任何東西都會(huì)變成金子?！? [00:30.69]Midas was overjoyed when he heard this."I shall be the richest man in the world,"he said to himself. [01:46.33]邁達(dá)斯走出宮殿，又來(lái)到了花園。 [01:49.32]When she saw her father,she ran up to him.King Midas was very fond of his daughter and he kissed her tenderly. [01:54.13]他的小女兒正在那兒。女兒一見(jiàn)到他，就跑到他眼前。邁達(dá)斯國(guó)王非常喜愛(ài)他的女兒，便親切地吻她， [01:58.94]Then and there she turned into a golden statue. [02:01.18]一剎那間，他女兒變成了一座金塑像。 [02:03.43]Midas was now very unhappy.He went into his palace.His eyes filled with tears,and he begged the gods to take away the Golden Touch. [02:08.88]邁達(dá)斯這時(shí)非常傷心。他走進(jìn)宮去，兩眼噙滿了淚水。他乞求眾神除去他的點(diǎn)金術(shù)。 [02:14.32]"I was very foolish to love gold so much,"he said."Take all my gold and give me back my daughter." [02:17.95]“我真是太傻了，這么貪愛(ài)金子，”他說(shuō)。“把金子都拿去吧，把女兒還給我。” [02:21.58]"Go," said the gods,"and wash your hands in the river near your garden,and the water will take away the Golden Touch." [02:26.19]“到你花園旁邊的那條河去，”眾神說(shuō)，“洗一洗手，河水就會(huì)把點(diǎn)金術(shù)除掉?！? [02:30.80]Midas went to the river and washed his hands.Then he ran quickly to the golden statue of his little girl. [02:34.93]邁達(dá)斯走到河邊洗了雙手。然后，趕快朝變成金塑像的小女兒跑去。 [02:39.06]He kissed her again and she changed back into his pretty little daughter. [02:41.66]他又親吻了她一下，他美麗的小女兒就變回來(lái)了。 [02:44.26]Midas never forgot this lesson.He knew now that gold did not bring happiness. [03:27.39]THE MILKMAID AND HER PAIL OF MILK [03:29.24]擠奶女工和一桶牛奶 [03:31.10]A farmer’s daughter was once carrying her pail of milk from the field to the farmhouse when she began to think and plan. [03:35.99]一次，農(nóng)夫的女兒頂著一桶牛奶從地里往農(nóng)場(chǎng)住宅走，一路上她開(kāi)始盤(pán)算起來(lái)。 [03:40.89]"I will sell this milk,"she said to herself,"and with the money I can surely buy there hundred eggs.
