Brandi Mallory's official cause of death has been released a month after the Extreme Weight Loss star died at age 40.

Mallory, who appeared on the ABC reality series in 2014, died from "complications of obesity," according to an autopsy report from the Fulton County Medical Examiner obtained by PEOPLE. The document lists the manner of death as "natural."

Although there were trace amounts of alcohol and marijuana in Mallory's system, the autopsy report states that they did not contribute to her death. There was also "no evidence of significant recent injury," and the investigation didn't find any signs of foul play.

Mallory was featured in the fourth season of Extreme Weight Loss, which followed people who underwent rigorous regimens to lose weight. During her time on the show, Mallory went from 329 pounds to 178 pounds.

In a 2018 interview, she said her weight-loss journey was inspired by the death of a sorority sister. "It was devastating, and she wasn't as large as I was," Mallory said. "She had a heart attack. I literally was waking up every day like… this may be my last day waking up, like, I don't know what's going to happen for me."

In the wake of Mallory's death, Extreme Weight Loss host and trainer Chris Powell remembered her as "an incredible person."
