本單元語言點是靜態(tài)動詞,靜態(tài)動詞描述狀態(tài)(即性質(zhì)不容易、也不會很快變化的動詞,比如 what you believe,think,or own),而非動作(jump, talk or buy)。這些動詞通常不被用于進行式(ing)。
Stative (or state) verbs describe states (things that don't change easily or quickly, for example, what you believe, think or own) rather than actions (jump, talk or buy). These verbs are not normally used in the continuous form (ing).
Stative verbs can be grouped into these categories (靜態(tài)動詞可以分為以下類別):
Verbs of emotion (情感動詞):
care feel hate
like loathe love
need prefer want
Verbs of ownership (領(lǐng)屬動詞):
own have possess
Verbs of the mind (認知動詞):
believe mean suppose
forget realise understand
know remember doubt
Verbs of the senses - often used with 'can'

hear see smell
taste touch
Other verbs (其它動詞):

Some of these stative verbs can be used in the continuous form but their meaning will change. 一些靜態(tài)動詞可以用于進行式,但它們的意思將改變。比如:
To think:
Do you think so? (Stative - Is that your opinion? Is that the state of your belief?) 靜態(tài)--這是你的看法嗎?你是這樣認為的嗎?
He's thinking about his friends in Poland (Dynamic - The action of thinking. His friends are in his thoughts, in his mind right now but he might be thinking of something else soon). 動態(tài)—思考的行動。他在想他的那些波蘭朋友。他現(xiàn)在正在想他的朋友們,但他不久就會思考其它的事情。
To have:
He has got brown eyes (Stative - He possesses brown eyes. The colour is unlikely to change). 靜態(tài)--他有棕色的眼睛。這種顏色是不太可能改變的。
He's having a pint of beer (Dynamic - The action of drinking. He might be drinking something else soon). 動態(tài)--喝的動作。他在喝一品脫啤酒。他可能不久就會喝點別的什么東西。
To see:
I don't see what you mean. (Stative - I don't understand what you mean). 靜態(tài)--我不明白你的意思。
She is seeing him next week. (Dynamic - She is meeting him). 動態(tài)--她將在下周與他見面。她將與他見面。
