托福聽力重聽題:聽懂“言外之意”

  從ETS官方對重聽題的設(shè)置來看:重聽題,往往在問speaker某句話的言外之意,這一點(diǎn)也是重聽題的難度所在,不僅要聽懂那句話,還要理解語境,所以正確選項(xiàng)為accurately describes the speaker’s real meaning, purpose, or position。

  常見的提問方式有:

  Whydoes the professor mention this…?(功能)

  Whatdoes the student/professor imply when she/he says this…?(推斷)

  Whatdoes the man/woman mean when she/he says this…?(態(tài)度)

  我們可以得出,重聽題考查考生:

  1.考生從文章整體去揣測某句話的潛在原因

  2.考生應(yīng)理解某一句話的功能

  3.考生需要理解某句話所暗示的內(nèi)容

  4.通過speaker的語氣和語境去揣測其真實(shí)含義

  5.考生需要理解speaker對于某個議題的立場

  分析完題目設(shè)置,讓我們來看一下錯誤選項(xiàng)的特點(diǎn):

  1.Can incorrectly describe the speaker’s real purpose. For example, if the professor says something tointroduce a topic, the wrong answer choice might say that the professor saidsomething to give an example of the topic.

  Hernext point may seem to contradict what she has just said.

  Thepoint she will make next should be obvious to the students.

  解析:

  (重聽內(nèi)容)It goes without saying,單從字面上理解,很多學(xué)生的第一反應(yīng)是“它一句話都沒說就走了。。。”答案驚人,目瞪口呆,但是通過上下文我們可以發(fā)現(xiàn),這里professor的意思是接下來要講的內(nèi)容已經(jīng)很明顯了,不需要再解釋了。

  綜上所述,要做對重聽題,不僅要聽懂句子,也要結(jié)合上下文理解。
