二、意義一致原則

“意義一致”是指，側重于依據(jù)實質意義使主謂保持一致。

1.形式雖為單數(shù)但意義為復數(shù)的名詞，謂語動詞用復數(shù)。

Cattle eat grass.牛吃草。

The police were called in.警察被召來了。

2.“the+形容詞（或過去分詞）” 指一類人時，謂語動詞用復數(shù)。

The injured were taken to hospital.受傷的人都送進了醫(yī)院。

The English do not drink much wine.英國人不喝很多酒。

3.形式為復數(shù)而意義上是單數(shù)的名詞謂語動詞用單數(shù)。

Mathematics is the language of science.數(shù)學是科學語言。

His Selected Poems was first published in 1965.他的《詩歌選集》最早是1965年出版的。
