　　公益廣告(public service advertisement)指為社會公眾的利益和社會風尚服務的廣告。它不以盈利為目的，屬于非商業(yè)性廣告，是社會公益事業(yè)(cause of the public good)的重要組成部分。公益廣告的主題一般取材于老百姓的日常生活，如健康、安全和環(huán)保等。目的是提高公眾的道德意識，改變公眾對社會問題的態(tài)度。中國最早的公益廣告出現在1986年。隨后，公益廣告的社會影響力逐漸增強。去年,中央電視臺舉辦了首次電視公益廣告大賽，呼吁社會各界關注并參與公益事業(yè)。

　　1.第一句的主干結構可理解為“公益廣告指…廣告”，即Publicservice advertisement refers to theadvertisement...。“為社會公眾的利益和社會風尚服務的”是“廣告”的定語，由于定語較長，可將其處理為that引導的定語從句，修飾“廣告”。

　　2.第二句由三個分句構成，可將“它不以盈利為目的，屬于非商業(yè)性廣吿”處理成主句，即it is a noncommercial anddoes not aim at making profit。“是社會公益事業(yè)的重要組成部分”可采用“as+名詞短語” 結構，譯作as asignificant part of the cause of the public good，置于句首。這樣翻譯比譯為并列句或定語從句更加簡潔明了。

　　3.“目的是提高公眾的道德意識，改變公眾對社會問題的態(tài)度”一句較簡單，可直譯為Its objectiveare...。“提高”和“改變”可表達為raising...and changing...也可用不定式來表達to raise...and change...。

　　4.最后一句可將“中央電視臺舉辦了首次電視公益廣告大賽”處理為英文句的主干。“呼吁…”可采用現在分詞appealing to...作伴隨狀語。
