美國(guó)習(xí)慣用語(yǔ)：843 neither here nor there

我特別喜歡去電影院看電影，可是有時(shí)也會(huì)遇到一些不愉快的事情。比如說(shuō)上個(gè)周末，我們后面坐的三個(gè)女孩子，從電影一開(kāi)始就旁若無(wú)人地聊天。我后來(lái)實(shí)在忍無(wú)可忍，回頭請(qǐng)她們保持安靜，誰(shuí)知其中一個(gè)女孩說(shuō)，我們可是比你先坐在這兒的，讓我哭笑不得，因?yàn)橛⒄Z(yǔ)里說(shuō)：neither here nor there.

Neither here nor there這個(gè)習(xí)慣用語(yǔ)的意思是無(wú)關(guān)緊要。我之所以這么說(shuō)，是因?yàn)樵陔娪霸豪锉３职察o是最起碼的禮貌，先來(lái)后到其實(shí)并不重要。

這倒讓我想到一件好笑的事情。每次我老公做錯(cuò)事，只要我嗓門(mén)稍微一升高，他馬上就會(huì)夸我看上去年輕漂亮。What he's saying is neither here nor there. 他這么說(shuō)明擺著就是在轉(zhuǎn)移視線，避重就輕。
