Directions:For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Should One Expect a Reward When Doing a Good Deed? You should write at least 150 words, and you should base your composition on the outline(given in Chinese)below:

Should One Expect a Reward When Doing a Good Deed?

There is no denying the fact that it is a controversial topic whether one should expect a reward when doing a good deed.People's opinions differ considerably on this issue.

Some hold the positive view. They claim that it is a natural thing for one to get rewarded after he has made contributions to the society, especially in an age of market economy.Otherwise, people would be discouraged from helping others.

Others, however, hold the opposite view. They argue that one should learn from Lei Feng and expect no reward when helping others. In their opinion, not everything is a commodity. The whole society would be in danger if we all calculated conscience and affection in terms of money. As the saying goes,it is love, instead of money, that turns the world around.

Personally,I am inclined to agree with the latter point of view.If a person helps others for rewards,he is not doing a good deed;instead,he is doing business. In that case, our society will become a cold place to live in.On the contrary,we should keep it in mind that we do not help others for money, but out of love and the sense of responsibility.Only in this way can we achieve a really harmonious society.

或:Personally,I believe that both sides have something right,so we should not go to extremes. On the one hand,we should recognize and reward in time people who have done a good deed or good deeds;on the other hand,we should keep it in mind that we do not help others for money, but out of love and the sense of responsibility.Only in this way can we achieve a really harmonious society.

Directions:For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Will e-books Replace Traditional Books? You should write at least 150 words following the outline given below:

   Will e-books Replace Traditional Books?

There is no denying the fact that e-books have gained increasing popularity in the past years along with the development of information technology.Taking a look around,we can find examples too numerous to list.Actually, modern readers seem to spend more time on e-books than on traditional ones.

As a consequence,it has emerged as a hotly debated topic whether e-books will take the place of traditional books in the future. Some hold the positive view. They claim that it is natural for books to become electronic as mankind steps into a digital age.Compared with traditional books,e-books have some obvious advantages. For one thing,it is convenient to read on line as modern people have easy access to the Internet. For another,reading'e-books saves money.

Personally,I believe that e-books cannot replace all traditional books.Firstly, you can mark a traditional book and write your comments in the margin but you cannot do that conveniently on e-books.Secondly,to many people, only the smell of ink and the feel of paper can provide the true sense of reading and learning. Therefore,in my opinion, traditional books will still exist in the future.

Directions:For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled The Celebration of Western Festivals. You should write at least 150 words following the outline given below.

   The Celebration of Western Festivals

There is no doubt that an increasing number of Chinese are fond of celebrating some Western festivals today.Taking a look around,we can find examples too many to enumerate.Reports about Chinese observing Christmas,Saint Valentine's Day and Thanksgiving Day are frequently heard or read on TV or the Internet.

A variety of factors may have led to the phenomenon, but the leading ones are as follows. For one thing, due to the policy of reform and opening?up,Chinese people tend to know more about Western culture and be influenced by it.For another, some businessmen wish to make money by encouraging people to celebrate those Western festivals.Last but not least,as traditional Chinese festivals lose their attraction, many people tend to find joy in Western festivals.

Though we need not criticize people celebrating Western festivals, nor can we stop them,we have to beware of the danger behind it.While enjoying the atmosphere brought by those Western customs,we might well lose our own tradition and identity. This will definitely result in severe consequences if we keep turning a blind eye to it.

Given the acuteness of this problem, effective steps must be adopted before the situation deteriorates.First,it is imperative that the government appeal to people to attach importance to traditional Chinese festivals.Meanwhile, students should be educated more about the significance of traditional Chinese culture.

Directions:For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay commenting on the remark “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed”.You may cite some examples to support you view. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

An age?old proverb says that “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed,” by which is meant that,in view of the limited resources on the earth, one should refrain from asking for more than he needs. In other words, one should learn to be thrifty and contented with a moderate level of living.Otherwise, there might appear crisis of resources, conflicts and even warfare.

Actually, history abounds with examples to prove this saying.Taking a look around,we can also find examples too many to enumerate. Here I can think of no better illustration of the proverb than the experience of the U.S..As the most developed country in the world,it has already occupied and consumed more than its proportion of wealth.Yet it never stopped expanding and grabbing resources from other countries. The 9·11 terrorist attack and wars between the U.S.and many other countries are just results of such greediness.

Bringing what has been discussed into a conclusion,we may say that thrift and self?denial are really valuable virtues of mankind, especially in the current world. So,neither a person nor a nation should pursue material wealth endlessly.Instead,he or they should take into consideration of others'needs and,in the meanwhile,go after spiritual wealth. In a word,we should truly understand the profound meaning of the proverb and take the right actions in our life in the future.

Directions:For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Student Use of Computers. You should write at least 150 words, and base your composition on the chart and the outline given below:

   1.上圖所示為1990年、1995年、2000年某校大學生使用計算機的情況,請描述其變化;

   2.請說明發(fā)生這些變化的原因(可從計算機的用途、價格或社會發(fā)展等方面加以說明);

第三段有些話也可以套用模板,如this chart is a perfect index of...;a series of problems have arisen in the process和it is reasonable for us to believe that they can be solved in the near future with effective measures taken等。

   Student Use of Computers

Students nowadays tend to use computers more frequently than before.Reading this chart,we can find that the average number of hours a student spends on the computer per week has increased sharply. In 1990,it was less than 2 hours;in 1995,it increased to almost 4 hours;and in 2000,the number soared to 20 hours.

A number of factors account for the change in the chart, but the following might be the critical ones.First, computers facilitate us in many aspects of life. Also, the fast development of the Internet enlarges our demands for using computers. We can easily contact with friends in remote places through the Internet.Besides, the prices of computers are getting lower and lower, which enables more students to afford them.

However, there still exist some problems, such as poor quality, out?of?date designs of computers and so on.And how to balance the time spent on using computers and studying is also a serious problem.Anyhow,we will benefit a lot from computers as long as we use them properly.

Directions:For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an open letter on behalf of the Student Union asking people to give help to a student who is seriously ill.You should write at least 150 words following the outline given below:

注意開頭的稱呼不能用Dear Sir or Madam,可以用Dear friends,Dear everyone,Dear schoolmates,Dear fellow students等。

   范文
