“剩女”用英語(yǔ)怎么說(shuō)？

曾幾何時(shí)，“剩女”成了大城市的話題。這個(gè)詞讓一部分大齡單身女青年感到尷尬，不過(guò)也有自詡自己為“剩女”的自信御姐。今天我們就來(lái)看一看“剩女”如何翻譯為英文。

 

 

“剩女”可以說(shuō)成：

1. single woman over 27/unmarried female above the age of 27

2. leftover woman

第1種翻譯是意譯，但是“剩女”的年齡到底是27還是28或是其他，見(jiàn)仁見(jiàn)智，不絕對(duì)。

第2種翻譯是直譯，其中l(wèi)eftover一詞和中文的“剩”精確對(duì)應(yīng)，Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English對(duì)leftover的解釋是：remaining after all the rest has been used, taken, or eaten。

如果想向外國(guó)人精確傳遞“剩女”的含義，建議這樣說(shuō)：

“Shengnu” literally means "a leftover woman". It refers to a single woman who is above the age of 27. “剩女”的字面意思是“被別人選剩下的女人”，用來(lái)指過(guò)了27歲的單身女性。
