央行行長稱有能力保持人民幣匯率的基本穩(wěn)定

The exchange rate of Chinese currency renminbi, or yuan, will remain basically stable at a reasonable and balanced level, China's central bank governor YiGang said Tuesday.

央行行長易綱周二表示，央行將保持人民幣匯率在合理均衡水平上的基本穩(wěn)定。

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) is closely watching the recent fluctuations in the foreign exchange market, Yi said.

易綱稱，近期外匯市場出現(xiàn)了一些波動(dòng)，中國人民銀行正在密切關(guān)注。

The central parity rate of the renminbi weakened 340 basis points to 6.6497 against the US dollar Tuesday, hitting a new low since Aug 25, 2017.

周二，人民幣對美元匯率中間價(jià)報(bào)6.6497元,下調(diào)340個(gè)基點(diǎn)，創(chuàng)下自2017年8月25日以來的新低。

Yi said a strengthening US dollar and external uncertainties have given rise to procyclical behavior, which refers to economic change that is positively correlated with the overall state of the economy.

易綱稱，美元走強(qiáng)和外部不確定性導(dǎo)致了順周期性行為。順周期性行為指的是與整體經(jīng)濟(jì)狀況呈正相關(guān)的經(jīng)濟(jì)變化。

China's economic fundamentals, he said, are sound and its financial risks are generally controllable. "The Chinese economy has entered a phase of high-quality development, with a stable international balance of payment and generally balanced cross-border capital flow."

他表示，當(dāng)前中國經(jīng)濟(jì)基本面良好，金融風(fēng)險(xiǎn)總體可控。“中國經(jīng)濟(jì)進(jìn)入高質(zhì)量發(fā)展階段，國際收支穩(wěn)定，跨境資本流動(dòng)大體平衡。”

China will use its experience and ample policy tools to maintain the yuan's exchange rate basically stable at a reasonable and balanced level.

我國將運(yùn)用已有經(jīng)驗(yàn)和充足的政策工具，保持人民幣匯率在合理均衡水平上的基本穩(wěn)定。

The PBOC chief said China will adhere to a managed floating exchange rate system, which is market-oriented and formulated in reference to a basket of currencies.
