托福詞匯之“cross-dresser變性人”

　　近日，美國(guó)一位長(zhǎng)有胡須的男子照片出現(xiàn)在《Advocate》同性戀雜志封面上，隨即引來(lái)了強(qiáng)烈的爭(zhēng)議。原來(lái)，照片中這位男子已有5個(gè)月身孕，之前已接受胸部移除和睪丸激素植入手術(shù)由女性變?yōu)楹戏行浴?/p>

　　來(lái)自俄勒岡的變性男子托馬斯·貝蒂通過(guò)人工受精方式懷孕。因認(rèn)為“想要一個(gè)親生的孩子并不是男性或女性的渴望，而是作為人類的渴望”，他決定懷這個(gè)孩子。

　　該報(bào)道中，artificial insemination 就是“人工受精”。transgender指 a person appearing or attempting to be a member of the opposite sex, as a transsexual or habitual cross-dresser (變性人)，有時(shí)候也會(huì)用作形容詞，跟transgendered同義，指“變性的”。而我們常見(jiàn)的表達(dá)sex change 則是the alteration, by surgery and hormone treatments, of a person's morphological sex characteristics to approximate those of the opposite sex，指“變性(手術(shù)或過(guò)程)”。
