英語(yǔ)早間課堂:話說地道美語(yǔ) Lesson 23(2)之一
Get on one's case或者是be on one's case的意思是對(duì)某人指手畫腳，對(duì)某人嘮嘮叨叨，批評(píng)責(zé)備某人。那么，我們還有很多的表述這樣意思的習(xí)語(yǔ)或者是動(dòng)詞短語(yǔ)。在今后的航程中，我們就逐一來(lái)學(xué)習(xí)。
第一、我們可以說order sb about。In English, it means"to keep telling sb what to do in a way that is annoying or unpleasant". 中文意思是(不斷地)支使某人，命令某人，差遣某人，使喚某人，擺布某人(做某事)。
下面，我們來(lái)就通過幾個(gè)例句來(lái)熟悉這個(gè)習(xí)語(yǔ)的意思。例句1：I think you have got no right to order me about. 我想你沒有權(quán)利支使我干這干那的。例句2： If he thinks he can order me about as he likes, I'll tell him where to get off. 如果他認(rèn)為他可以隨意指使我，我就要教訓(xùn)他老實(shí)點(diǎn)。
第二，我們可以說come down on sb。In English, it means "to criticize sb severely or punish sb". 中文意思是斥責(zé)某人或者是懲罰某人。
下面，我們來(lái)就通過幾個(gè)例句來(lái)熟悉這個(gè)習(xí)語(yǔ)的意思。例句1：If you don't work diligently, the boss will come down hard on you. 如果你不努力工作，老板會(huì)找你算帳。Some of them may feel that I come down on them too hard, but they know that this is helpful to them. 他們也許有人認(rèn)為我對(duì)他們過于嚴(yán)厲，但他們知道這對(duì)他們是有益處的Come down on sb不但有責(zé)備，斥責(zé)，責(zé)罵的意思，還有懲罰的意思。我們來(lái)看下面的例子。
例句1： If you don't behave well, I'll come down on you with heavy hand. 如果你不老實(shí)話，我定會(huì)對(duì)你不客氣。
注解：Heavy hand字面上的意思是很重的手，引申為“是嚴(yán)厲的手段”“高壓手段”“嚴(yán)酷的手腕”的意思。例如：The king ruled with heavy hand. 國(guó)王用高壓手段統(tǒng)治。Several officers worried about the heavy hand of government. 一些官員對(duì)政府的強(qiáng)硬措施表示擔(dān)憂。
例句2：All his creditors came down on him for prompt payment of his bills when they heard of his financial difficulties. 他的債主聽到他發(fā)生經(jīng)濟(jì)困難，一齊向他提出立即付清欠賬的要求。
注解1：Prompt payment是“立即付款”的意思。例如：Prompt payment is requested.我們要求立即付款。
注解2： Hear of 是“聽說”的意思。例如：We're sorry to hear of your father's death. 我們獲悉令尊去世，非常難過。
