1) 在It's time后的定語從句中謂語要用虛擬語氣(多用過去虛擬語氣):
It's time we went. 我們?cè)撟吡恕?
It's time we were leaving. 我們?cè)搫?dòng)身了。
It's time we ordered dinner. 現(xiàn)在該點(diǎn)菜了。
I think it's time they were taught a lesson. 我想現(xiàn)在是給他們一次教訓(xùn)的時(shí)候了。
2) 在It's high time后情況也如此:
It's high time you bought a new car. 你該買輛新車了。
It's high time that you made up your mind. 該是你下決心的時(shí)候了。
It's high time you got a job and settled down. 你該找個(gè)工作安定下來了。
在少數(shù)句型中謂語需用虛擬語氣:
1)由that引導(dǎo)的句子(表示愿望或沮喪情緒):
Oh that the rain would stop! 但愿雨能停下來!
Oh, that I were with her now! 但愿我現(xiàn)在和她在一起!
That I should be accused of murder! 我竟然被控謀殺!
That he should act so rudely toward you! 他竟然對(duì)你這樣無禮!
2) 由would that引導(dǎo)的句子(表示“但愿…”):
Would (that) he were gone! 但愿他已走掉!
Would that we had seen her before she died. 如果在她臨終前我們?nèi)タ此幻婢秃昧恕?
Would that he could have listened to his father. 他要是能聽了他父親的話就好了。
3) 由to think引導(dǎo)的句子(表示“沒想到…)”:
To think that I trusted him! 沒想到我竟然信任了他!
To think he knew about it all the time! 沒想到這事他一直都知道!
To think that she should have died such a tragic death. 沒想到她竟會(huì)死得這樣慘。
某些成(短)語本身就包含虛擬語氣:
1) as it were(were就是虛擬語氣)——通常插在句子中間,表示“姑且這么說”:
He is, as it were, a walking dictionary. 他可說是一部活字典。
He is my best friend, my second self as it were. 他是我最好的朋友,可說是我第二個(gè)自己。
The English, the Scots and the Welsh are all, as it were, members of the same family. 英格蘭人、蘇格蘭人和威爾士人都可說是一家人。
2) would have thought——本身也是虛擬語氣,表示“會(huì)想到”、“會(huì)以為”等:
Who would have thought to see you here! 誰會(huì)想到在這里見到你!
Who would have thought it was going to break like that? 誰會(huì)想到它會(huì)這樣碎掉?
You would have thought they would do more to help us. 你原本會(huì)以為他們會(huì)更多地幫助我們的。
3) if need be——表示“如果必要”:
I can earn my own living if need be. 如有必要,我可以自己賺錢維持生活。
I'll fight you if need be to the High Court. 必要的話我可以和你一直打到高等法院。
If need be, I can do extra work at the weekend. 倘有必要,我可以在周末加些班。
