10、外調(diào)也是一種升遷

外企中的promotion（升職）一般有兩種情況，一種是在企業(yè)的總公司直接升職，還有一種是在總部暫時(shí)沒有合適的superior position（高級(jí)職位）的時(shí)候，把員工先派到分部擔(dān)任負(fù)責(zé)人，待積累了一段時(shí)間的管理經(jīng)驗(yàn)之后，再調(diào)回總公司填補(bǔ)管理職位的vacancy。

Amy是Nancy的好朋友，兩人之前在同一家房地產(chǎn)公司工作，在同一間辦公室里坐對(duì)面，在Nancy離職轉(zhuǎn)到外企后，Amy也蠢蠢欲動(dòng)，她其實(shí)也一直dream of（向往）能夠成為一名外企白領(lǐng)。而Nancy跳到Innovo后，也經(jīng)常和她講自己在新公司的工作情況。在Amy看來(lái)，Innovo的work environment（工作氛圍）很適合Nancy，她在外企如魚得水。Amy曾經(jīng)對(duì)自己的英語(yǔ)不是很confident（自信的），但是看到和自己level（水平）差不多的Nancy竟然也能夠在外企大顯身手，而且一年不到，英語(yǔ)已經(jīng)進(jìn)步神速了。隨著時(shí)間的推移，Amy越發(fā)地心里長(zhǎng)草，她決心也跳到外企試一試。Nancy知道她的想法后，就把她recommend給Finance Deparment的Smith。她這樣推薦有兩個(gè)原因，一是Smith人很open，比較好說(shuō)話；二是Amy以前做過(guò)accounting（財(cái)會(huì)），換新工作后銜接和過(guò)渡不會(huì)太困難。Smith對(duì)Nancy的recommendation很信任，立刻便答應(yīng)叫Amy過(guò)來(lái)試一試。

就這樣，Amy在Nancy跳到Innvovo八個(gè)月之后就在她的推薦下也加盟到這家美資企業(yè)。兩個(gè)人又成了colleagues（同事）。Amy到Innovo以后就一直在Finance Deparment埋頭工作。她很善于學(xué)習(xí)，也很善于與人communicate（溝通），由于表現(xiàn)優(yōu)秀，一年后，公司決定提拔她，但是北京公司卻暫時(shí)沒有合適的vacancy，于是先把她transfer（調(diào)往）上海分公司，擔(dān)任華東部的Finance Manager。這次調(diào)離是temporary（暫時(shí)的），一方面是給Amy一個(gè)積累management經(jīng)驗(yàn)的機(jī)會(huì)，另一方面也是上海那邊剛有一個(gè)Finance Manager休產(chǎn)假，的確急需人過(guò)去幫忙。說(shuō)實(shí)話，Nancy在得知Amy的transfer（調(diào)動(dòng)）消息后，心情很矛盾。她當(dāng)然為好朋友的promotion感到高興，但Amy到上海去后就意味著她們兩個(gè)人的距離一下子遠(yuǎn)了。以后見面肯定不那么容易了。在Amy南下就任之前，公司為她舉辦了一個(gè)send-off party（歡送會(huì)），由財(cái)務(wù)部的總監(jiān)Smith代表同事們致歡送辭。

I appreciate everyone being here today. As you know, Amy is taking off next week for our Shanghai branch office. She has been promoted to regional Accounting Manager for our company's central and southern regions.

I really don't know whether to be happy or sad here today.

Amy has worked really hard in our Finance Department for one year now, and I'd just like to say that I've heard nothing but good things about her performance! Actually, the employee grapevine says she's a real slave-driver. I know you don't hate her for being like that.

Seriously, though, it comes as no surprise to me that you are moving up the corporate ladder. Everyone knows you are a hard worker. Everyone here will certainly miss your hard work and enthusiasm. Accounting isn't going to be the same without you. I might not be there when you come back next time. I am too old for that date.

Smith的一番話讓全場(chǎng)的氣氛頓時(shí)light（輕松）起來(lái)，大家紛紛走到Amy身邊向她表示祝福。Nancy跑過(guò)去給了Amy一個(gè)big hug。這個(gè)時(shí)候，兩個(gè)人都不知道說(shuō)什么好，其實(shí)僅僅一個(gè)會(huì)意的微笑就彼此明了了。

接下來(lái)一周的時(shí)間里，Amy就休假在家，準(zhǔn)備暫時(shí)移居上海了。一個(gè)全新的環(huán)境和一群全新的同事在等著她。
