584　rest和the rest

① rest作“休息，睡”解時(shí)，可作名詞或動(dòng)詞。

They took a rest every two hours. 他們每?jī)蓚€(gè)小時(shí)休息一次。

He didn't get enough rest last night. 他昨晚睡眠不足。

She couldn't rest when there is noise all around her. 周圍都是喧鬧聲，她睡不著。

② the rest意為“其余，剩余部分”，相當(dāng)于what is left，the ones that still remain。the rest可用作主語(yǔ)或賓語(yǔ)。

He spent some of the money and sent the rest to his mother. 那些錢他花了一些，剩余的寄給了母親。

These books are mine and the rest are hers. 這些書是我的，余下的是她的。

the rest作主語(yǔ)時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞的單復(fù)數(shù)要根據(jù)其所指代的名詞而定。
