禮物
A young man was getting ready to graduate from university.
一個年輕人將要從大學(xué)畢業(yè)了。
For a long time he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom and knowing his father could well afford it, he told his Dad that was all he wanted.
幾個月以來他一直喜歡某個經(jīng)銷商展廳里的那臺漂亮的跑車。他知道他的父親買得起,所有他告訴父親說,他只想要這臺跑車。
As his graduation day approached the young man began looking for signs that his father had bought the car.
畢業(yè)典禮臨近,年輕人期待看到父親已經(jīng)給他買車的跡象。
Finally on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his study.
最后,在畢業(yè)典禮當(dāng)天的早晨,他的父親把他叫到他的私人書房。
His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son and he told him how much he loved him.
他的父親說他為自己有這么優(yōu)秀的兒子而驕傲,還告訴他父親是多么的愛他。
He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box.
他遞給兒子一個精心包裝好的禮盒。
Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely leather bound Bible with the young man's name embossed in gold.
年輕人很好奇,但帶著失望,年輕人打開了盒子,看到一本用皮革包邊的漂亮的圣經(jīng),上面有用金子浮雕的年輕人的名字。
Angry, he raised his voice to his father and said, With all your money you give me a Bible? and then stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.
年輕人憤怒地對這父親喊道:你有那么多錢,你就給我一本圣經(jīng)?然后丟下圣經(jīng),沖出了家門。
Many years passed and the young man was very successful in his own business.
很多年過去了,年輕人已經(jīng)成為了商場上的成功人士。
He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old and thought perhaps he should go to him as he had not spoken to him since that graduation day.
他有一個美麗的家和一個幸福的家庭,但是忽然意識到自己的父親很老了,想著或許他應(yīng)該去看看他。自從那個畢業(yè)典禮之后,他就沒有見過他。
Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him that his father had passed away and had willed all his possessions to his son so he needed to come home and take care of things.
他還沒來的及安排,就接到了一個電報,通知他他的父親去世了,把所有財產(chǎn)都留給了他。他需要馬上回家處理這些財產(chǎn)。
When he arrived at his father's house sadness and regret filled his heart.
當(dāng)他到達(dá)父親的房子,心里充滿了悲傷與遺憾。
He began sorting through his father's papers and saw the still new Bible just as he had left it years ago.
他開始翻看他父親的重要文件,看到了那本依舊嶄新的圣經(jīng),新如當(dāng)年。
With tears in his eyes he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.
他流著淚打開了圣經(jīng)翻閱。
His father had carefully underlined a verse…
父親在一段話的下面認(rèn)真地畫了線…
Matthew-7:11, And if ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,how much more shall your heavenly Father which is in Heaven give to those who ask him?
馬太福音第七章第十一節(jié):如果你是罪惡的,尚且知道把好的禮物送給孩子,賀卡你們在天上的父,豈不更會把好東西送給求助于他人的人?
As he read these words a car key dropped from the back of the Bible.
就在他讀這句話的時候,一把汽車鑰匙從圣經(jīng)后面掉下來。
It had a tag with the dealer's name and on the tag was the date of his graduation and the words paid in full.
上面的標(biāo)簽上有經(jīng)銷商的名字,正是他想要的那輛跑車的經(jīng)銷商。標(biāo)簽上的時間正式他畢業(yè)典禮的那天,還寫著一句全額付款。
