植樹(shù)造林不僅可以綠化和美化家園，同時(shí)還可以起到擴(kuò)大山林資源、防止水土流失 、保護(hù)農(nóng)田、調(diào)節(jié)氣候、促進(jìn)經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展等作用，是一項(xiàng)利于當(dāng)代、造福子孫的宏偉工程。而“植樹(shù)節(jié)”則是一些國(guó)家以法律形式規(guī)定的以宣傳森林效益，并動(dòng)員群眾參加造林為活動(dòng)內(nèi)容的節(jié)日。按時(shí)間長(zhǎng)短可分為植樹(shù)日、植樹(shù)周或植樹(shù)月，總稱植樹(shù)節(jié)。通過(guò)這種活動(dòng)，激發(fā)人們愛(ài)林、造林的感情，提高人們對(duì)森林功用的認(rèn)識(shí)，促進(jìn)國(guó)土綠化，達(dá)到愛(ài)林護(hù)林和擴(kuò)大森林資源、改善生態(tài)環(huán)境的目的。是為了動(dòng)員全民植樹(shù)而規(guī)定的節(jié)日。我國(guó)的植樹(shù)節(jié)開(kāi)始時(shí)是為紀(jì)念孫中山先生逝世，孫中山是中國(guó)近代史上最早意識(shí)到森林的重要意義和倡導(dǎo)植樹(shù)造林的人。我國(guó)規(guī)定以3月12日為中國(guó)的植樹(shù)節(jié)，以鼓勵(lì)全國(guó)各族人民植樹(shù)造林，綠化祖國(guó)，改善環(huán)境，造福子孫后代。每一年的植樹(shù)節(jié)都有不同的主題，2013年的植樹(shù)節(jié)主題是：深入開(kāi)展造林綠化，大力推進(jìn)生態(tài)文明建設(shè)。每年各學(xué)校單位都會(huì)組織去植樹(shù)。
