Just fine, except that my gums are sore. I'venoticed that they bleed when I brush my teeth.

不錯，只是牙齦還痛，我發(fā)現(xiàn)刷牙時牙齦出血。

Have you had this trouble before? Have you ever had treatment for a gum problem?

你以前有這種問題嗎?你以前有沒有做過牙齦治療?

No, and I'm very worried about it.

沒有做過，我可真十分擔(dān)心。

When your gums bleed it usually means that your teeth need a thorough cleaning. Inaddition, you're probably neglecting your daily home care.

牙齦出血通常表示牙齒需要全面清洗。此外，你可能對日常在家的保護注意的不夠。

What do you mean by daily home care, Doctor?

醫(yī)生，你說的日常在家的保護，指的是什么?

Daily home care is brushing your teeth at least once a day for a minimum of four to fiveminutes each time. Also, you must use dental floss every day.

日常在家的保護指的是每天至少刷一次牙，每次至少刷四到五分鐘。同時你每天應(yīng)該使用牙線。

Well, I try to, but I've been very busy. I've neglected my teeth for a long time.

There's abnormal recession of the gums and of the tooth supporting bone from around yourteeth.

What happens if this bone is lost?

If the supporting bone is lost the teeth will become loose.

假若支持牙齒的骨頭消失了，那么牙齒就會松動。

Loose teeth can become infected very easily.

松動的牙齒非常容易受到感染。

Look into this hand mirror. Can you see where the gums have receded?

望手鏡里看，您能看見萎縮的牙齦嗎?

A little bit of recession is normal when you get older.

當(dāng)人的年紀大一些的時候，牙齦萎縮是正常的，

When it occurs in excessive amounts, there's a possibility that periodontitis (pyorrhea) isdeveloping.

當(dāng)牙齦過度萎縮就很可能發(fā)展成為牙周炎(牙槽膿漏)。

What's that, Doctor?

醫(yī)生，那是什么?

I'll explain it to you after I finish my examination. Can you see the redness in your gums?

Look here. Your gums bleed in some places when I touch them.

Are the gums infected, Doctor?

No, don't worry. There's no infection. If there was infection, I'd prescribe an antibiotic.

不是，不用擔(dān)心，沒有感染，假如感染了我會開一份抗生素的處方。

An antibiotic isn't effective for the treatment of periodontitis.

抗生素對于治療牙周炎并無多大效力。

Antibiotics might reduce the symptoms of chronic periodontal disease, but the benefits ofantibiotics are temporary.

抗生素能減輕慢性牙周炎的癥狀，但是，抗生素的效力只是短暫的。

Antibiotics can't cure this condition or prevent the continual loss of gum and bone supportfrom the teeth.

抗生素并不能治療這種病癥，也不能防止支持牙齒的牙齦及骨頭的持續(xù)退縮與消失。
