Some think it means nothing profound,or that math is something we've made up to be useful,others think it means there's something fundamentally mathematical about nature,and the most extreme possibility is that our universe is completely mathematical in a sense that it has no properties except mathematical properties.
有些人認為這些成果沒什么意義 數學不過是人類發(fā)明的有用工具而已 其他人認為這意味著自然本身有著數學特征 最極端的假設是宇宙是純數學的 這意味著宇宙只有數學特征
But at first glance,our universe doesn't seem very mathematical at all,A sheep has properties such as cuteness and fluffiness,Not mathematical properties!Yet we know that this sheep and everything else in our universe is ultimately made up of elementary particles.such as electrons and quarks.
但是宇宙給我們的的第一印象完全沒有數學特征 一只羊有可愛和軟軟的特征 而不是數學特征!然而我們知道羊和世間萬物是由基本粒子構成 比如電子和夸克.
And what properties does an electron have?Smell?Smell? Color? Smell? Color? Texture? No!Only properties like minus one,one half and one!We physicists call these properties electric charge spin and lepton number,but the electron doesn't care what we call them!The fundamental properties that an electron has are just numbers!Mathematical properties,And as far as we know,all elementary particles,the building blocks of everything around,are purely mathematical objects in a sense they don't have any properties except for mathematical properties.
而電子有什么特征呢?味道 味道?顏色? 味道?顏色?質地?才沒有呢?電子只有諸如負一,二分之一,一的屬性!物理學家將這些屬性稱為電荷 自旋 輕子數 但是電子才不在乎我們怎么命名!電子擁有的最基本屬性就是數字----數學屬性 我們所知的所有基本粒子 也就是組成萬物的零件 都是純數學的個體 也就是說他們除了數學屬性之外沒有任何屬性.
The same goes for the space that these particles are in,For example,it has the property of three,the number of dimensions,If space is mathematical and everything in space is also mathematical,then,yeah,the idea that everything is mathematical doesn't sound as crazy any more,Quantum mechanics and string theory introduce even more mathematical structure,with nerdy names like Hilber Space,Linear Operators,and Calabi-Yau Manifold,And we physicists still haven't found ANY properties of nature that we can prove are non-mathematical which is why some of us,including me think that perhaps there are just isn't anything else out there.Other than math And that thought makes me one positively awe-struck mathematical object!
這些粒子棲身的空間也是一樣 比方說,空間有著“3”的屬性 也就是三維 如果空間是純數學的 而空間中的一切也是如此 那“萬物皆數學”聽起來就沒那么扯淡了 數學在量子力學和弦論中的使用更是有過之而無不及 還都有不明覺厲的名字.希爾伯特空間 線性映射卡拉比-丘流形 之類的 而物理學家到現在也沒有找到非數學的自然屬性 所以有些物理學家----我也在內 認為其實自然中什么都沒有 只有數學 這種觀點讓我這個純數學的個體虎軀一震!
