We start today in Tikrit. It`s a city in northern central Iraq. It`s the birthplace of former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, who was killed in the Iraq War. It was one scene of fighting in the Iraq War and now it`s a battlefield once again, this time between Iraqi forces and the ISIS terrorist group.

今天的新聞從提克里特說(shuō)起。這是伊拉克中北部的一座城市，是伊拉克前獨(dú)裁統(tǒng)治著薩達(dá)姆侯賽因的出生地，并在伊拉克戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)中被殺。這個(gè)場(chǎng)景在伊拉克戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)中出線過(guò)，今天又重新出線在伊拉克戰(zhàn)場(chǎng)。而這次戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)雙方為伊拉克部隊(duì)和ISIS恐怖組織。

ISIS took over the city last June.

在去年六月份ISIS占領(lǐng)了給城市。

The Iraqi Army and militiamen are fighting to take it back. They`ve failed to capture it several times before. This new assault is important for several reasons. For one, these troops were trained by U.S. and other coalition forces. This battle could indicate whether that training made a difference.

伊拉克軍隊(duì)和民兵組織正在為奪回對(duì)該城市的控制權(quán)進(jìn)行激烈戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)。之前也曾進(jìn)行幾次爭(zhēng)奪戰(zhàn)，但最后都以失敗告終。而這次新的進(jìn)攻有非常重要的幾點(diǎn)原因。首先，這些部隊(duì)都經(jīng)美國(guó)和其他聯(lián)盟軍進(jìn)行過(guò)訓(xùn)練。此次戰(zhàn)斗可能是對(duì)訓(xùn)練成果的考核。

It`s expected to last a while. If it succeeds, it could show that recapturing Mosul, a much larger city controlled by ISIS, is possible. If it fails, it could spell disaster for the Iraqi capital of Baghdad and the fight against ISIS in Iraq.

預(yù)計(jì)戰(zhàn)斗將會(huì)持續(xù)一段時(shí)間。如果進(jìn)攻成功，作戰(zhàn)部隊(duì)將重新控制摩蘇爾城鎮(zhèn)，這是被ISIS恐怖組織控制的比較大的城市。如果進(jìn)攻失敗，這對(duì)于伊拉克首都巴格達(dá)和對(duì)在伊拉克進(jìn)行對(duì)抗ISIS組織的作戰(zhàn)部隊(duì)來(lái)講都是災(zāi)難性結(jié)果。
