[00:01.42]074.The Four Freedoms [00:02.71]In the future days, which we seek to make secure, [00:08.87]we look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms. [00:19.87]The first is freedom of speech and expression - everywhere in the world. [00:30.75]The second is freedom of every person to worship God in his own way - everywhere in the world. [00:42.78]The third is freedom from want - which, translated into world terms, [00:50.93]means economic understandings which will secure to every nation a healthy peace time life for its inhabitants - [01:03.08]everywhere in the world. [01:06.89]The fourth is freedom from fear - which, translated into world terms, [01:15.63]means a world wide reduction of armaments to such a point and in such a thorough fashion [01:24.68]that no nation will be in a position to commit an act of physical aggression against any neighbor - anywhere in the world. [02:15.62]To that new order we oppose the greater conception - the moral order. [02:23.71]A good society is able to face schemes of world domination and foreign revolutions alike without fear. [02:35.99]Since the beginning of our American history we have been engaged in change - [02:43.31]in a perpetual peaceful revolution - a revolution which goes on steadily, quietly adjusting itself to changing conditions - [02:57.69]without the concentration camp or the quicklime in the ditch. [03:05.89]The world order which we seek is the cooperation of free countries, [03:12.16]working together in a friendly civilized society. [03:19.60]This nation has placed its destiny in the hands and heads and hearts of its millions of free men and women; [03:33.17]and its faith in freedom under the guidance of God. Freedom means the supremacy of human rights everywhere. [03:44.74]Our support goes to those who struggle to gain those rights and keep them. Our strength is in our unity of purpose. [03:58.56]To that high concept there can be no end save victory.
