第十七章 謂語(yǔ) 主語(yǔ)謂語(yǔ)一致的問題

　　主語(yǔ)和謂語(yǔ)必須在人稱和數(shù)上一致：

　　The content of these books 1is very good .這些書的內(nèi)容很好。

　　Between the two buildings stands a monument .

　　兩座樓之間有一座紀(jì)念碑。

　　The results of the examination show that you have made good progress . 考試結(jié)果說明你們有很大進(jìn)步。

　　關(guān)于這個(gè)問題，下面幾點(diǎn)值得注意：

　　1 .主語(yǔ)若是一個(gè)抽象概念，謂語(yǔ)都用單數(shù)形式：

　　Growing vegetables needs constant watering .種菜要經(jīng)常澆水。

　　Smoking cigarettes is hazardous to your health .吸煙危害健康。

　　2 .主語(yǔ)若是單數(shù)，不受后面狀語(yǔ)的影響，謂語(yǔ)仍用單數(shù)形式：

　　Nobody but Helen and Kate was there .除了海倫和凱特那兒沒人。

　　No one except his parents knows anything about it . 除了他父母誰(shuí)也不知此事。

　　3 . each 和由some , any , no , every 構(gòu)成合成代詞都作單數(shù)看待：

　　Each of us have something to Say .我們每人都有些話說。

　　Is every body ready ?大家都準(zhǔn)備好了嗎?

　　4 . what , who，which 等代詞可以左單數(shù)看待，也可作復(fù)數(shù)看待，根據(jù)意思決定：which is your room ?哪是你的房間?

　　Which are your rooms ?哪幾間是你們的房間?

　　Who is knocking at the door ?誰(shuí)在敲門?

　　Who are quarrelling ?誰(shuí)在吵架?

　　5 . none 可作單數(shù)看待，也可作復(fù)數(shù)看待，看說話人聯(lián)想的是單數(shù)概念還是復(fù)數(shù)概念：

　　None ( = Not one )of us has got a camera .我們中間沒有一個(gè)人有像機(jī)。

　　None of these bookks arr easy enongh for us .這些書全太難，我們看不懂。

　　6 .有些集體名詞可追單數(shù)看待，也可作復(fù)數(shù)看待，根據(jù)意思決定：

　　His family isn't very large .嘶家里人不多。

　　His family are all music lovers .他家里人都喜歡音樂。

　　The committee meets twice a month .委員會(huì)一月開兩次會(huì)。

　　The committee are divided in opinion.委員們意見有分歧。
