[00:14.61]The Unicorn in the Garden
[00:16.89]Part 1
[00:19.04]Once upon a sunny morning,
[00:21.52]a man sitting in his breakfast nook looked up
[00:24.46]from his scrambled eggs to see a white unicorn
[00:28.08]with a gold horn quietly cropping the roses
[00:30.87]in the garden.
[00:32.76]The man went up to the bedroom
[00:34.59]where his wife was still asleep and woke her.
[00:38.27]"There's a unicorn in the garden,"
[00:40.91]he said,"eating roses."
[00:44.93]She opened one unfriendly eye and looked at him
[00:48.94]"The unicorn is a mythical beast," she said
[00:53.33]and turned her back on him.
[00:55.30]The man walked slowly downstairs
[00:57.62]and out into the garden.
[00:59.94]The unicorn was still there;
[01:01.97]he was now browsing among the tulips.
[01:05.48]"Here, unicorn," said the man,
[01:08.69]and he pulled up a lily
[01:10.32]and gave it to him.
[01:12.14]The unicorn ate it gravely.
[01:15.05]With a high heart,
[01:16.54]because there was a unicorn in his garden,
[01:18.87]the man went upstairs and roused his wife again
[01:23.96]"The unicorn," he said,"ate a lily,"
[01:28.21]His wife sat up in bed and looked at him coldly
[01:32.59]"You are a booby," she said,
[01:35.59]"and I am going to have to put you
[01:37.52]in the booby-hatch."
