This is a chance once in a blue moon.
這是個千載難逢的機會。
blue moon 在現(xiàn)代天文學(xué)意義上指：“一個月中的第二次滿月”，由于月運周期是29.5天，而根據(jù)日歷，每個月大多數(shù)都有至少30天，因此，大約每32個月才會出現(xiàn)一次一個月兩次圓月的現(xiàn)象。所以這個習(xí)語用以形容這種罕見的天文現(xiàn)象，后來引申為：“極為罕見的事情，千載難逢的機會”。因此，當(dāng)美國人說"This is a chance once in a blue moon."時，他/她要表達的意思就是:"It is a golden opportunity."、"It is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."。
