47課 A thirsty ghost

A public house which was recently bought by Mr.IanThompson is up for sale. Mr.Thompson is going tosell it because it is haunted. He told me that he couldnot go to sleep one night because he heard astrange noise coming from the bar. The nextmorning, he found that the doors had been blockedby chairs and the furniture had been moved. ThoughMr.Thompson had turned the lights off before hewent to bed, they were on in the morning. He alsosaid that he had found five empty whisky bottleswhich the ghost must have drunk the night before. When I suggested that some villagersmust have come in for afree drink, Mr.Thompson shook his head. The villagers havetold him that they will not accept the pub evenif he gives it away.
