'Do you call that a hat?' I said to my wife.'Youneedn't be so rude about it,' my wife answeredas she looked at herself in the mirror.I sat downon one of those modern chairs with holesin itand waited. We had been in the hat shop for halfan hour and my wife was still in front of themirror.‘We mustn't buy things we don't need,' Iremarked suddenly. I regretted saying it almost atonce. 'You needn't have said that,' my wifeanswered.‘I need not remind you of that terrible tieyou bought yesterday.' "I find it beautiful,"I said. A man can never have too many ties."And awoman can't have too many hats,"she answered.Ten minutes later we walked out of the shoptogether. My wife was wearing a hat that looked like a lighthouse !

語(yǔ)法歸納：情態(tài)動(dòng)詞 need 和 must 的用法

need作實(shí)義動(dòng)詞時(shí)，有人稱和數(shù)的變化，后加動(dòng)詞不定式、名詞、代詞或動(dòng)名詞。

I need to come in person.

我需要親自來(lái)一趟。

My pants need a slide fastener.

我的褲子需要一條拉鏈：

This suit needs ironing.

這套西裝應(yīng)該熨燙了。(含被動(dòng)含義)
