Dan Robinson has been worried all week. LastTuesday he received a letter from the local police. Inthe letter he was asked to call at the station. Danwondered why he was wanted by the police, but hewent to the station yesterday and now he is notworried anymore. At the station, he wastold by asmiling policeman that his bicycle had been found.Five days ago, the policeman told him, the bicyclewas picked up in a small village four hundred milesaway. It is now being sent to his home by train.Dan was most surprised when he heard the news. He was amused too, because henever expected thebicycle to be found. It was stolen twenty years ago when Dan wasa boy of fifteen!

語言點 be being sent現在進行時的被動語態(tài)。
8. Dan was most surprised when he heard the news.
當丹聽到這個消息時驚奇萬分。
語言點 與情感有關的動詞一般既可用于主動語態(tài)，又可用于被動語態(tài)：
1) sb.be done (動詞的過去分詞謀人被……/某人感到……
2) sth +動詞+ sb.某物使某人
與情感有關的動詞有：
amuse使娛樂;surprise使驚奇;worry擔心，使煩惱
please喜歡，使高興;satisfy使?jié)M意;frighten害怕，使驚恐
astonish使驚訝;annoy使煩惱;upset使心煩;dismay使沮喪
terrify 使恐怖;infuriate激怒;interest使感興趣;delight 使快樂;excite使興奮
9、He was amused too, because he never expected the bicycle to be found.
他又感到非常好笑，因為他從未指望那輛自行車還能被找到。
語言點 expect sth. to be done意為“期待著某事情被完成”。原句中the bicycle是expected的賓語，不定式to be found是賓語補足語。
10、It was stolen twenty years ago when Dan was a boy of fifteen!
它是20年前丹還是一個15歲的孩子時被人偷走的!
語言點1 本句中when引導時間狀語從句。
語言點2 a boy of fifteen是一個典型的年齡表達法。
