Coming up, a new round of international talks begins on Iran's nuclear program. The Iranian foreign minister makes this statement via YouTube: "Nuclear energy is not about joining a club or threatening others. Nuclear energy is about a jump toward deciding our own destiny."
We'll also be looking at the deepening row between Indonesia and Australia over spying allegations. A transgender model tells us there's no reason why we shouldn't see her modeling high class.
"I feel that people are looking at it as a beautiful woman, a beautiful photo, you know a beautiful person expressing her femininity."
And why are children around the world less fit than their parents.”
The world of modeling is coming under increasing criticism. Many observers say they'd favor women who are young, unhealthily thin and white, but all this must change. But are we about to see a transgender model in advert for a big global lingerie brand. Will fans of Carmen Carrera think so? They've organized an online petition calling for her to be the first ever transgender model for the international firm Victoria's Secrets. Carmen was born in the US in 1985 as Christopher Roman. And as well as being a model, she is a reality TV star and burlesk performer. The online petition has quickly gained 35,000 signatures. So she clearly has many fans.
Dan Damen asked her how difficult it was to be a transgender person working in this highly competitive industry. "I'm a model. You know, I don't necessarily think about it as trans. It's work for me."
"It's work, but it's art as well, isn't it?"
"Yeah, absolutely. It's a way for me to express, I guess, my beauty, you know, me as an individual, me as Carmen, me as this human that's here. Me! Like this is how I think I look the most beautiful, I like to express it, through my makeup, through my costumes and through my hair. Like this is something that comes from my own vision, in my won heart. You know, I mean, I grew up a lot of the times afraid to be who I am, afraid to be cosmetic, afraid to be engaging, because I knew I was different and I didn't know how I was gonna be received. So you know, you have that fear. So I grew up like that. I wasn't happy. And I need to make a change and I knew what it was, my whole life."
