David: Are there any actors or actresses that youlike? Who are your favorite movie stars?

你喜歡哪些演員?你最喜歡的影星是誰?

You: Yes, I’ve got a few favorites: Tom Hanks ,TomCruise, and Ben Affleck. I like them very much.

我喜歡好多明星。如：湯姆 · 漢克斯，湯姆 · 克魯斯，本 · 阿福來克等。

David: Those guys are known as heartthrobs.

這些人很讓人心動(dòng)。

You: What does that mean?

什么意思?

David: Heartthrobs are men who make the heart of women throb.

就是讓女人心動(dòng)的男人。

You: Oh, I see. They are quite handsome and attractive.

我明白了，他們很帥，很有吸引力。

David: Many American movies center around these movie stars. Do you have any thoughtsabout these kinds of American movies?

許多美國影片的賣點(diǎn)就是這些明星。你對(duì)這類美國電影有什么看法?

You: I think these American movies do not reflect real life. They may be inventive or well-produced, and they may have famous stars and handsome actors, but the stories are so farfrom reality that they are not instructive or meaningful.

我覺得美國電影不反映現(xiàn)實(shí)生活。盡管美國電影構(gòu)思獨(dú)特，設(shè)計(jì)新穎，制作精細(xì)，而且有很多偶像派的明星，但故事太脫離實(shí)際，沒有什么精神價(jià)值。

David: So maybe these movies are more about the action, but there’s no moral to the story.

也許這些電影更多的關(guān)注情節(jié)，因而缺乏實(shí)際的社會(huì)意義。

You ：Exactly! I couldn’t have put it better myself!

沒錯(cuò)，我就是這個(gè)意思!
