[00:08.63]Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel.

[00:13.45]All claimed that they were the best, the most important.

[00:18.15]Green said:

[00:19.81]“Clearly I am the most important.

[00:23.09]I am the sign of life and of hope.

[00:25.86]I was chosen for grass, trees, leaves and animals.”

[00:30.97]Blue interrupted:“You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea.

[00:38.52]The water is the basis of life and the sky gives space and peace and serenity.

[00:45.52]Without my peace, you would all be nothing.”

[00:49.36]Yellow chuckled:“You are all so serious.

[00:53.27]I bring laughter, gaiety, and warmth into the world.

[00:57.45]The sun, the moon and the stars are all yellow.”

[01:01.17]Orange stated:“I am the color of health and strength.

[01:06.85]I am precious for I serve the needs of human life.

[01:10.57]I carry the most important vitamins.”

[01:14.51]Red could stand it no longer he shouted out:

[01:18.57]“I am the ruler of all of you. I am blood—life’s blood!

[01:24.41]I am the color of danger and of bravery.”

[01:28.30]Purple rose up to his full height:

[01:31.58]“I am the color of royalty and power.

[01:35.85]Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me

[01:40.58]for I am the sign of authority and wisdom.”

[01:44.93]Finally Indigo spoke:“Think of me. I am the color of silence.

[01:52.48]I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water.”

[01:58.28]And so the colors went on boasting, each convinced of his or her own superiority.

[02:05.39]Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightening thunder rolled and boomed.

[02:11.84]Rain started to pour down relentlessly.

[02:15.34]The colors crouched down in fear, drawing close to one another for comfort.

[02:20.70]In the midst of the clamor, rain began to speak:

[02:24.31]“You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves, each trying to dominate the rest.

[02:31.21]Don’t you know that you were each made for a special purpose, unique and different?

[02:37.01]Join hands with one another and come to me.”

[02:41.06]Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined hands.

[02:45.65]The rain continued:

[02:47.51]“From now on, when it rains,

[02:50.29]each of you will stretch across the sky in a great bow of color

[02:54.52]as a reminder that you can all live in peace.

[02:57.91]The Rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow.”

[03:01.08]And so, whenever a good rain washes the world, and a Rainbow appears in the sky,

[03:07.53]let us remember to appreciate one another.
