你怎么賺的錢
A young man asked an old rich man how he made his money.
一個(gè)年輕人問一位富有的老人是怎樣賺到錢的。
The old guy fingered his worsted wool vest and said, "Well, son, it was 1930. The depth of the GreatDepression. I was down to my last nickel."
老人輕撫著自己的精紡毛背心,說道:“孩子,是這樣的。那是1930年,大蕭條時(shí)期,我就只剩下5分錢。”
"I invested that nickel in an apple. I spent the entire day polishing the apple and, at the end ofthe day, I sold the apple for ten cents."
“我用這5分錢買了一個(gè)蘋果,然后用一整天的時(shí)間把這只蘋果擦得光潔漂亮,到晚上,我把它賣了一毛錢。”
"The next morning, I invested those ten cents in two apples. I spent the entire day polishingthem and sold them at 6:00 p.m. for 20 cents. I continued this system for a month, by the endof which I'd accumulated a fortune of $1.58."
“第二天早上,我用這一毛錢買了兩個(gè)蘋果并用一整天把它們擦得光潔漂亮,下午6點(diǎn)鐘時(shí)我把它們賣了兩毛錢。如此以往,一個(gè)月后,我積攢了一塊五毛八。”
"And that's how you built an empire?" the boy asked.

"Heavens, no!" the man replied, "Then my wife's father died and left us five million dollars."
