My friends and I spent New Year's Eve at a resort in the mountains. When we arrived, we unloaded our bags and headed for the hill. I was so excited! What an adventure!
Although my friend's were veteran boarers this was my first time snowboarding. They suggested I take lessons, but I wanted to head straight for the black diamond.
I disregarded their warning and joined them on the chairlift. When we reached the top, my friends took off down the hill.
Meanwhile, I couldn't stand up on my snoeboard. After thirty minutes I finally managed to push off from the top of the hill.
Within seconds I was flying down the hill, the wind in my hair, the sun at my back. This is great, I thought. What a rush! But suddenly, my snowboard veered off the slope and into the trees. I couldn't stop.
I hit a rock and I sailed into the air, landing head first. I cried for help until the ski patrol came torescue me. An emergency vehicle brought me down the hill. I spent the rest of our vacation cooped up in the cabin.
