[03:38.07]Passage Caroline as a Teacher
[03:45.93]Caroline's favorite subject at school was math.
[03:52.99]She enjoyed solving prob-lems,and was intereted in the teaching methods.
[04:00.35]But most of her friends tended to find math very difficult,
[04:06.31]and because they thought it was a useless subject,
[04:11.17]they saw no point working at it.
[04:16.13]Math was,in fact,the least popular subject in Caroline's class.
[04:24.18]During Caroline's last year at school,
[04:29.53]the teachers went on strike for two months
[04:34.89]to protest against the size of their classes(30-35 was typical).
[04:43.25]Each morning,Caroline gave private math lessons to three of her friends,
[04:51.29]so that they would have a chance of passing their examination.
[04:57.25]She's patient, and good at explaining things to people,
[05:03.49]and the lessons went well. Caroline and her three friends all passed.
[05:11.22]They offered to pay her for the lessons, but she refused.
[05:17.47]She felt sympathy for the teachers'strike,
[05:22.61]and did not think it would be fair if she took money for doing their job.
