一、從屬連詞that的省略

1.賓語(yǔ)從句中

（1）引導(dǎo)賓語(yǔ)從句的that，?？墒÷?。

His mother said （that）Grant was a music critic.他母親說(shuō)格蘭特是個(gè)音樂(lè)評(píng)論家。

（2）由and或but連接的兩個(gè)賓語(yǔ)從句時(shí)，第一個(gè)從句的that可以省略，第二個(gè)不能。

Everybody could see （that）something happened and that Tom was frightened.

大家都明白出事了而且湯姆嚇壞了。

He said （that）he had eaten nothing but that he was not hungry.

他說(shuō)他沒(méi)吃東西，但是他不餓。

（3）介詞后that引導(dǎo)的賓語(yǔ)從句中不能省略that。

The book is unsatisfactory in that it lacks a good cover.

因?yàn)榉饷嬖O(shè)計(jì)不好，這本書(shū)不令人滿(mǎn)意。

I know nothing about him except that he is from the south.

除了知道他是南方人，其余一概不知。

（4）it作形式賓語(yǔ)的句式中，that引導(dǎo)從句作真正賓語(yǔ)時(shí)，不能省略。

We considered it a pity that you could not come with us.

你不能跟我們一起來(lái)，我們都覺(jué)得可惜。

We think it highly probable that he is dead.我們想他已經(jīng)死了，這是非常可能的。

We consider it absolutely necessary that he should improve his work.

他應(yīng)當(dāng)改進(jìn)他的工作，我們認(rèn)為這是絕對(duì)必要的。

2.主語(yǔ)從句、表語(yǔ)從句、同位語(yǔ)從句中that不能省略

【辨析】很顯然他說(shuō)了謊。

【誤】He has told lies is quite clear.

【正】That he has told lies is quite clear.

【正】It is quite clear that he has told lies.
