一、句法作用

1.作主語

This book is very useful.這本書很有用。

Mary is to meet you at the airport.瑪麗將在機場接你。

2.作表語

My brother is a worker.我弟弟是個工人。

She is a writer.她是個作家。

3.作賓語

He finished his task on time.他按時完成了任務。

She gave her child a first-rate education.她給了她孩子一流的教育。

4.作介詞賓語

He majored in Astronomy at Cambridge.他在劍橋大學主修天文學。

She has made outstanding contributions to architecture.她對建筑學做出了突出的貢獻。

5.作賓語補足語

He painted the table a brighter color.他把桌子漆成了更鮮艷的顏色。

We made Tom our monitor.我們選湯姆為我們的班長。

【提示】 表示唯一的職務頭銜的名詞作賓語補足語時，用零冠詞。

We elected him monitor of our class.我們選他當我們的班長。

6.作定語

There are thirty women teachers in our school.我們學校有三十位女教師。

He got three gold medals at the 23rd Olympic Games.

7.作狀語
