Kendra Jackson said she was given countless explanations for her runny nose -- from allergies to winter congestion -- before she was diagnosed with a brain fluid leak at Nebraska Medicine.
The symptoms reportedly began following a 2013 car accident in which she hit her head on the dashboard.
For years, the Omaha woman consulted doctor about her continuously runny nose and headaches, according to the hospital.
"It was like a waterfall, continuously, and then it would run to the back of my throat," Jackson told KETV.
Like her physicians, Jackson initially thought she had a cold, but when the symptoms never alleviated, she knew something was wrong.
"I couldn't sleep," she said. "I was like a zombie."
Earlier this year, she visited Nebraska Health where she was finally diagnosed with acerebrospinal fluid leak. Doctors told Jackson there was approximately half a pint of brainfluid leaking out of her brain.
If untreated, she could've developed life-threatening infections such as meningitis.
Jackson underwent brain surgery a few weeks ago where doctors used her own fatty tissue to plug the leak.
Jackson said that she already is on the mend. "I don't have to carry around the tissue any more and I'm getting some sleep," she said.
