在中國數(shù)字中,一、三、五、七、九為陽數(shù),二、四、六、八為陰數(shù)。因此,九月初九為兩九相重,所以也被稱為“重陽”。重陽節(jié)是雜糅多種民俗為一體而形成的漢族傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日。慶祝重陽節(jié)一般會包括出游賞景、登高望遠、觀賞菊花、遍插茱萸、吃重陽糕、飲菊花酒等活動。重陽登高望遠也稱為“踏秋”,與“踏春(go for a hike in spring)”相對。重陽糕是一種用面粉做成的食品,可以加棗、銀杏、松子、杏仁做成甜品,也可以加肉做成咸的,講究的還要做成九層,再在上面做兩只小羊,以諧“重陽(羊)”之音。由于“九九”諧音是“久久”,有長久之意,所以常在這一天推行敬老活動。新修改實施的《老年人權益保障法》中規(guī)定“每年農歷九月初九為老年節(jié)”。2013年的重陽節(jié)是中國第一個法定的老年節(jié)。
