16. 敦煌莫高窟

Dunhuang is a renowned tourist resort famous for the Mogao Caves. In ancient times, Dunhuang was the center of trade between China and its western neighbors. With the flourishing of trade along the Silk Road, Dunhuang quickly developed to become the most open area in international trade in Chinese history. Over 1,000 caves were cut out of cliffs in Dunhuang. The caves reflect Silk Road civilization and important aspects of Chinese people's religious life, art, and customs in history, including the introduction of Buddhism to China during this period. Dunhuang grottoes have always been regarded as the national treasure of China.

敦煌是以莫高窟（Mogao Caves）而著名的旅游勝地。在古代，敦煌是中國(guó)與其西方鄰居之間的貿(mào)易中心。隨著絲綢之路沿線貿(mào)易的蓬勃發(fā)展，敦煌迅速發(fā)展為中國(guó)歷史上國(guó)際貿(mào)易最開放的地區(qū)。敦煌有1000多個(gè)石窟是在懸崖上雕刻出來的。石窟反映了絲綢之路的文明和歷史上中國(guó)人民的宗教生活、藝術(shù)和習(xí)俗的重要方面，其中包括這個(gè)時(shí)期傳入中國(guó)的佛教（Buddhism）。敦煌石窟一直被視為中國(guó)的國(guó)寶。
