B: In the past fifty years, China's pharmaceutical industry has grown from nothing into a booming industry. When the PRC was established in 1949, China's basic pharmaceutical industries were very weak.
 
在過去的50年里，中國(guó)的醫(yī)藥業(yè)實(shí)現(xiàn)了從低潮到繁榮的轉(zhuǎn)變。盡管1949年建國(guó)時(shí)，中國(guó)的醫(yī)藥業(yè)還都十分薄弱。
 
A: The entire pharmaceutical industry?

B: Yes, the entire pharmaceutical industry was quite weak at the 1950s.

B: Yes, and now China has achieved an important position in the world market as a supplier of raw materials for pharmaceuticals.

A: What do you mean?

B: I mean that many multi national companies depend on China for raw materials, and China has cornered about 30% of the market share for pharmaceutical chemicals.
 
中國(guó)是很多跨國(guó)公司的原料供應(yīng)地，而且它的化學(xué)藥品在世界市場(chǎng)上的份額達(dá)30%之多。
 
A: It seems like in the past 50 years China's pharmaceutical market has opened to the world.

B: Not exactly. In the first thirty years, China's economy was not open to Western countries. But since the 1980's, in the last twenty years, China's international trade has taken off.
