A：I noticed that your hobbies do not include book reading, painting, poetry, or collecting stamps. Do you think this generation of China is not so interested in traditional hobbies? I find many students in the Internet cafe playing games or chatting online.
 
我注意到你在談論個人愛好時沒有說到讀書，畫畫，詩歌或者集郵。你是不是覺得現(xiàn)在的年輕人對這些傳統(tǒng)東西不再感興趣了？我看到很多學生在網吧玩游戲，聊天。
 
B：Yes, but people should not get addicted to the computer. For some people it's too late, they are already lost in cyberspace.

A：I think many students used to read books as a hobby before. Do you think this generation is not reading as many books?
 
我以前以為很多學生都把讀書當作個人愛好。你有沒有覺得現(xiàn)在的人不再讀那么多書了？
 
B：Do you think reading books or collecting stamps are sedentary hobbies?
 
你是不是覺得喜愛讀書和集郵的人不太愛運動？
 
A：They are not active hobbies. They are passive. But playing computer game is also sedentary.
 
那樣的愛好就要求人們靜下來呀，電腦游戲也屬于這種。
 
B：Yes. Your body is passive, but your mind is very active.
 
玩電腦游戲的時候，你的身體是靜止的，但你的思維很活躍。
 
A：Well, what do you know about American hobbies?
 
你了解美國人有什么愛好嗎？
 
B：I know about baseball and basketball … Americans like to travel.
 
我知道有棒球，籃球……美國人喜歡旅行。
 
A：Yes. There are many hobbies in the United States.
 
是的，在美國人們有很多愛好。
 
B：I have heard that American children like to ski.
 
我聽說美國孩子喜歡滑雪。
 
A：Among the younger people in America, sports are still a very popular hobby. Other popular hobbies include reading books, watching TV, and some other traditional kinds of hobbies.
 
美國的年輕人中還是有很多人把運動作為一項愛好的。其他的愛好還有讀書，看電視和其他一些傳統(tǒng)愛好。
