A:Professor wang can I ask a few questions?
B:Certainly.
A:What is the tariff?
B:It's a tax levy by the goveroverment on goods imported into that country.
A:Why does the goverment levy the tariff?
B:Tariff provides the goverment with extra tax revenue.
A:Anything else.
B:Tariff raises the price at which the goods are sold in the importing country and therefore makes them less competitive with locally produced goods.
A:Oh,I know. Thank you. Professor wang.
B:Do not mention it.
