你不想做哪種工作

今天的這段對(duì)話，在討論不想做的工作，
 
工作種類很多其中有一些沒(méi)有想象中那么好，你不想做哪種工作
 
來(lái)聽今天的講解:
 
A: So, Jeff, you asked me about what kind of job I'd like. Well, what about a job you definitely you wouldn't want to do. There's lots of jobs out there and some of them aren't so good, so what would you not want to do?
 
杰夫，你之前問(wèn)過(guò)我我喜歡哪種工作?，F(xiàn)在我們來(lái)談?wù)勀憬^對(duì)不想做的工作。工作種類很多，其中有一些不是那么好，你不想做哪種工作？
 
B: That's a difficult question. I don't like working period, really.
 
這是個(gè)難以回答的問(wèn)題。我不太喜歡工作時(shí)間。
 
A: Yeah, but who does?
 
誰(shuí)會(huì)喜歡呢？
 
B: Yes, that's right, but I think a type of job I wouldn't like to do would be an office job, a straight desk job, where it is just task work, where you get paper — maybe sort of like an accountant — where you are doing nothing but sitting at your desk sort of by yourself all day, crunching numbers or putting things into the computer. I think it's very anti-social, a little bit boring, not so healthy, and even if the pay was good, I still wouldn't want to do it because you're compromising your life, which is short, to something that's not so fun so maybe a desk job, something at a desk, I wouldn't like to do. How about you? What job would you not like to do?
 
沒(méi)錯(cuò)，我不喜歡的工作是那種辦公室工作，我不喜歡在辦公桌工作，不喜歡做那種任務(wù)工作，面對(duì)一堆文件，比如說(shuō)會(huì)計(jì)，一整天就只是坐在辦公桌前，自己處理數(shù)據(jù)，或是把數(shù)據(jù)輸入電腦。我認(rèn)為這種工作非常反社會(huì)，而且有點(diǎn)無(wú)聊，也不健康，即使工資不錯(cuò)，我也不想做這種工作，因?yàn)檫@是在浪費(fèi)生命，所以像這種有點(diǎn)無(wú)聊的工作或者說(shuō)是辦公桌工作是我不想去做的。你呢？你不想做哪種工作？
 
A: Well, to be honest with you I don't think I would make a very good police officer. I really wouldn't want to be a police officer. I know it's exciting and it's always different but I kind of feel like I would be judging people and I'm not anti-police. I think they're needed but sometimes I don't agree with everything that a government believes in and I think it would be difficult for me to be busting people for somethings that I don't agree with. And I think that, you know, it's a hard job. It's a hard job and you've got to deal with people that you know need help in different ways, and a police officer is just coming and putting them in jail.
 
說(shuō)實(shí)話，我認(rèn)為我不可能成為優(yōu)秀的警察。我不太想當(dāng)警察。我知道這個(gè)工作很刺激，而且與眾不同，不過(guò)我會(huì)認(rèn)為這種工作是在評(píng)判別人，不過(guò)我并不是反警察。我認(rèn)為警察是很必要的，不過(guò)我不是完全認(rèn)同政府的一切決定，我認(rèn)為對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)因?yàn)槟臣氯ニ巡赌橙撕茈y，我不同意這種做法。我覺得這是一項(xiàng)很難的工作。因?yàn)橐筒煌娜舜蚪坏?，有些人可能也?huì)需要一些幫助，可是警察只是把他們關(guān)進(jìn)監(jiān)獄。
 
B: Another thing, sort of related to police officer is I wouldn't want to be a nurse or a doctor.
 
說(shuō)到警察，我想我不想當(dāng)護(hù)理人員或醫(yī)生。
 
A: Oh, I'm surprised.
 
哦，這讓我很驚訝。
 
B: A great job and it would be rewarding to save people's lives or to make them better if they're sick, to make them healthy again, but I hate blood.
 
這是偉大的工作，而且可以挽救人們的生命，讓人們更健康，幫助生病的人重獲健康，可是我討厭血。
 
A: Oh, really.
 
哦，真的嗎？
 
B: I can't stand blood so if there is... I can't even stand somebody with a bloody nose so I think in a situation where there is any blood around I wouldn't be your man.
 
我真的不能忍受血……我甚至不能和流鼻血的人站在一起，所以我不能在會(huì)出現(xiàn)血的環(huán)境中工作。
 
A: Well, I think another job I wouldn't want to be is a garbage man, to be honest with you.
 
嗯，說(shuō)實(shí)話，另一個(gè)我不想做的工作是清潔工。
 
B: Oh, a garbage man would be great.
 
哦，清潔工還不錯(cuò)啊。
 
A: I understand. Like, I like the idea of driving from house to house. I think I would be a great post office worker, and I don't mind the manual labor of just lifting stuff up and stuff.
 
我知道。我喜歡從一家開車去另一家這種方式。不過(guò)我想我可能想成為郵局工作人員，我不介意做搬東西這種體力勞動(dòng)。
 
B: A bit smelly though.
 
會(huì)有點(diǎn)臭。
 
A: Yeah. That's the biggest thing. I think the smell would really get to me, like kind of like you were with blood. I think that eventually that smell would sometimes make me sick, and you'd be surprised what people people throw away. I mean, needles, all kinds of things, dirty diapers. Things like that. I don't think I could deal with that very well.
 
對(duì)。這是最大的問(wèn)題。我真的受不了臭味，就像你受不了血一樣。我想那種臭味會(huì)讓我想吐，你可能會(huì)對(duì)人們?nèi)恿耸裁蠢械襟@訝。可能會(huì)有各種東西，比如面條，臟尿布這種東西。我想我不能應(yīng)對(duì)這些。
 
B: OK, so you'll never be a garbage man and I'll never be a nurse.
 
好，你永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)做清潔工，而我也永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)做護(hù)理人員。
 
A: Ah, fair enough I suppose.
